There are two kinds of leadership – thought leadership and who’s running the place. Both are important at TMA+Peritus. Thought leadership is a staple of content marketing, and as a leading content marketer, it guides much of our strategy, and in many cases, our client’s business, too. Our clients are practioners of thought leadership, and because of this, they are successful. But to be a successful advertising agency, particularly a firm that’s assigned the most challenging types of projects, it takes thought leaders in every discipline; it’s not about a strong team top-to-bottom – it’s about a strong team across all disciplines of Content Marketing, Web Design & Development, and Branding. That’s what we have. And it was started by Tom and Kathy.
Tom Marks – he started the firm in 1983 after agency stints in Chicago and business-to-business work in Wisconsin. He grew TMA+Peritus to be one of the largest agencies of its kind from a town of 30,000 people with virtually no population-base within 3 hours of the original office. Large corporations sought the services of TMA+Peritus, regardless of proximity, and Tom ultimately caved-in to pressure from clients throughout the Midwest and opened a second office in Madison in 2007.
Kathy Marks – founded Peritus Design in 2003, an interactive and design firm that later merged into TMA+Peritus. Kathy has extensive experience in both profit and non-profit industries and has been active in account management for companies such as Honeywell, American Family Insurance and M3 Insurance Solutions, as well as being the primary leader and innovator for web based projects. Kathy led the opening of the Madison headquarters including office location and staffing.
