Urban Land Interests, (ULI) a real estate development and management company, located in Madison, Wisconsin has a vision to create and sustain exceptional buildings and tenant relationships that strengthen our communities.
Their vision is carried out by the principals, Brad Binkowski and Tom Nuejahr, and their employees who are committed to exceeding stakeholder expectations with an overwhelming attention to detail.
Emily Mehl, Development Analyst for Urban Land Interests, led their website redevelopment project, which began with a search for an agency that would be the right fit. “All of us at ULI share a passion for detail, and we knew that having a successful website redesign was dependent on that detail being integrated throughout the website. We knew what we wanted and we knew we couldn’t build it ourselves. We wanted an agency that would work collaboratively with us to achieve our vision.“
It is precisely that visionary culture to exceeding expectations that drove their decision to choose TMA+Peritus as their website redesign partner. Mehl said, ”We interviewed a number of agencies to find the right fit. Most agencies we interviewed had an ‘all or nothing’ attitude. They told us they wanted to be in charge of everything - the design, information architecture and development. TMA+Peritus was the opposite. They welcomed and respected our decision to lead the visual design and to incorporate our attention to detail into the website. We worked side by side throughout the project, sharing ideas and complementing one another's skills and knowledge.”
What are the results? The new website was launched in June 2012. A quarterly website analytics comparison from the first quarter of 2012 to 2013 shows the following results:
- 51% increase in website visits
- 242% increase in total page views
- 94% increase in organic search
“In addition to exceeding our analytics goals, we have empowered our prospective tenants to explore residential properties, view floor plans, select their unit and contact us through the website. We have dramatically decreased the time our staff spends responding to phone inquiries because our prospective tenants have already searched our availability, researched our properties and come to us knowing which units the want “, states Mehl.
Successful outcomes in any project are directly related to the working relationship between people. Finding the right fit is important in all relationships, and it certainly holds true in choosing the right agency for your business. Take the time to interview a number of agencies. Look for people who share your values and vision. True collaboration between agencies and clients is not about agreeing your way to a compromise. And it’s not about someone winning the day. Collaboration always begins with respect and an understanding that no one has the answer at the beginning. And along the way, the constant is still respect and knowing that there will be an answer in the end.
